LEOPARD 2 (A1-A4) MBT

After a development period of 6 years and another 2 years of trials, finally, in October 1979 the first series-production Leopard 2 tank was delivered to the German army school in Munster. After this, the manufacture of 1,800 tanks ordered by the German Ministry of Defense continued in January 1977. These tanks were manufactured in 5 batches until 1987, followed by another order for 325 new tanks which were delivered in 3 more batches. Production of the original Leopard 2 ended in March 1992 with the delivery of 75 tanks of the A4 variant to the German Army.
