TYPE 95 / PGZ95 spaag

During the 1999 Beijing’s Military Parade, a formation of Type 95 or PGZ95 vehicles could be observed for the first time. The vehicle assembles four 25mm Type 87 antiaircraft guns along with four fire and forget QW-2 short-range antiaircraft missiles. This system is completed with the installation of a CLC-1 doppler pulse radar with a range of 11 km, a TV and infrared cameras with a range of up to 6,000 meters and a laser rangefinder that is useful up to 5,500 meters. The gun’s effective range reaches 2,500 meters in distance and 2,000 meters in altitude. However, the missile’s range is greater than guns, reaching 6,000 meters in distance and 3,500 meters in altitude. Each battery of six Type 95 vehicles is assigned a control vehicle that has a CLC-2 surveillance radar installed, This radar detects aircrafts 45 km away flying at 4,500 meters altitude. The data obtained by the CLC-2 radar are transmitted digitally or via radio to the rest of the battery, limiting the maximum transmission range to 5 km if it is done digitally or 15 km if it is done by radio signal.
