Sd Kfz 233 7.5cm

The Sd Kfz.233 reconnaissance vehicle belonged to the Sd Kfz.231 family of 4-axle armored cars, which appeared in 1937 to improve the off-road capabilities of the exploration units. This vehicle had a powerful armament consisting of a StuK37 L/24 75mm gun that allowed to deal with armored vehicles at close range and support the infantry. The gun was mounted on a superstructure with an open roof on the right side of the front and had a 7.92mm machine gun as a support weapon. Ten Sd Kfz.231/232 chassis were transformed from Sd Kfz.263 in October 1942 and 109 new vehicles were constructed between December 1942 and October 1943. They were distributed in platoons of six vehicles each among the Reconnaissance Battalions and they were very appreciated and fought on all fronts until the end of the war.
