7.5cm PaK.40(Sf) auf GW 39H (f)

In 1942, German authorities began the conversion of two dozen Hotchkiss H.39 light tanks, captured from the French after their defeat, into tank destroyers. The chassis of these tanks were used as the basis for the “7.5cm PaK.40 (Sf) auf Geschützwagen 39H (f)” model, which was fitted with an armored superstructure of greater thickness than the one mounted on the most extended “7.5cm PaK.40 / 1 auf Geschützwagen Lorraine Schlepper (f), (Sd Kfz.135)”. The gun chosen was the reliable and powerful 75mm PaK.40, able to penetrate 97mm of steel at a maximum distance of 1Km, and vastly used within the German Army. It is one of the most unusual German tank destroyers and served in units deployed in France excclusively.
