Embraer EMB-314 / A-29 SUPER TUCANO
The Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano is a development of the Embraer EMB-312H, a model specially designed for “helicopter killer” missions that started in 1991. The basis aircraft for both projects is the versatile EMB-312 Tucano training model, modified to perform attack missions and light ground support with a more powerful engine and various weapon options such as guns, bombs, unguided rockets and air-to-air missiles. From 1996 Brazil began the development of the “ALX program” that ended with the acquisition of 99 units of the A-29, 66 two-seater designated A-29B and 33 single-seaters, designated as A-29 ALX version. A dozen countries have chosen the Super Tucano for their light ground support missions, due to its excellent flight and maneuver capabilities, being a considerable success for Embraer company.
