SPIKE (MR/LR/LR2/ER/ER2/SR/Mini/Aero) anti-tank missile
In 1997, the Israeli company Rafael unveiled a family of anti-tank and land-attack missiles known generically as NT (New Technology) Spike. The family consists of different missiles with distinct capabilities designed to cover a wide range of targets. The current variants are the anti-tank missiles: LR, LR2, MR, ER, ER2, SR and Aerospike variants, the anti-personnel missile Mini Spike, and the long-range multipurpose multi-platform missile Spike NLOS (former Tamuz). All missiles stand out by their simplicity of operation, precision, and adaptability for mounting on any type of ground, air, or naval vehicle, depending on the variant. In addition, Rafael has recently presented the tactical loitering munition “L-Spike 1X” or “Firefly”, and the “L-Spike 4X“, which is a new missile with loitering capability. By 2024, approximately 40,000 missiles had been manufactured, of which approximately 7,000 had been fired in exercises and combat.
