Kynos ALJABA K15-100

In 1997, the Spanish Army was faced with the need to acquire a new heavy equipment transport (HET) suitable for the future Leopard 2E MBT. Thus, a public tender was called, which was attended by the main companies in the sector such as MAN, Mercedes Benz, Iveco, Renault, Scania and the Spanish Kynos firm. Eventually, only Mercedes Benz and Kynos would come up with a prototype for evaluation. Mercedes Benz presented the “MB 2636AS” truck and Kynos presented the Aljaba K15-100 model. After almost two years of testing, the Kynos “Aljaba K15-100” tank transporter was chosen and a total order of 47 units was placed, which would be delivered in the period 2001-2005.
