ALBATROS (Type 143B) class

The Albatros or Type 143B class are powerful fast attack crafts, suitable for coastal defense at a relatively low cost. Germany ordered 10 vessels in 1972 to replace the Type 141. The Albatros class came into service in 1976 and had a powerful armament for anti-ship missions with two 76mm guns, two 533mm torpedo launchers and four MM.38 Exocet missile launchers. In the 90s the torpedoes were removed and changed by mine rails to be able to carry out mining tasks. Tunisia bought 6 ex-German units in 2005 with the MM.38 Exocet removed and Ghana bought another 2 ex-german ships in 2010.
