BOVINGTON TANK MUSEUM

The Tank Museum is one of the most renowned military museums in the world. It is located north of Wool in Purbeck, Dorset, England. Its history began in 1923, when it was decided to establish a museum to preserve the tanks from World War I, which were stored there in a damaged state. The Tank Museum opened its doors to the general public in 1947. All the photos shown here were taken by me with a film camera during my two visits, on September 22, 2003 and June 26, 2006. This kind of “virtual tour” includes ALL the vehicles that were on display at the museum on both visits, EXCEPT the famous Tiger E tank “number 131,” which, unfortunately for me, was in the museum’s workshop on both occasions. The photos show the museum as it was before the major renovation and modernization that took place between 2007 and 2009.
