Tatra T-813 Kolos

The 8×8 Tatra T-813 Kolos heavy utility truck was designed in the early 1960s and entered production in 1968 as part of a 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8 military trucks family. They were used by several Warsaw Pact’s countries but mainly by East Germany, Romania and the USSR. India also purchased a good number of T-813 and many still in service today. They can carry loads up to 12 tons by road or 8 tons off-road. They can also tow loads up to 65,000 kg, which allows them to be used as tank transporter. Several variants have been developed for specific tasks such as fire truck, engineer vehicle and mobile crane. Likewise, its chassis has been used as a basis for multiple launch rocket systems and even for Dana 152mm wheeled self-propelled howitzer.
