Lockheed C-5 GALAXY
The history of the C-5 Galaxy begins in 1964, when the need for a strategic transport aircraft became necessary for the USAF. By means of a requirement, the “CX-LHS” program was started for the construction of an aircraft capable of carrying a payload of 80 tons to 4,800 km distance without having to make stops. In April 1965, Boeing, Douglas and Lockheed submitted their proposals and in September Lockheed was chosen to manufacture the new strategic transport jet aircraft for the USAF.
