Leichte Ladungsträger GOLIATH (Sd Kfz.302)

At the end of 1940 the High Command of the Werhmacht issued an order for the study of a remote controlled expendable vehicle for minefield clearance and demolition missions. The experiences acquired with the vehicles Borgward B.I and B.II were used to develop the “Leichte Ladungsträger (Sd Kfz.302) (E-motor)”, better known as “Goliath”. It was presented in April 1942 and it was a small vehicle equipped with two electric motors and a huge explosive charge that could be controlled from a maximum distance of about 650m. Production ended in January 1944, with aproximately 2,650 vehicles manufactured.
