Hispano Aviacion HA-200D SAETA
HASA company manufactured an improved version of the HA-200A named HA-200D Saeta that assembled new hydraulic and electric systems, and a “equipped” powerplant to make easier the maintenance works. A Maurer AN-N6 photographic machine gun was also installed and a pre-installation was made to use of a Maurer P2 type reconnaissance camera. In December 1963, the Spanish Air Force ordered 55 aircraft of this new variant, although the first HA-200D would not fly for the first time until last August 1965. The first ten HA-200D aircrafts, with E.14B military designation, were delivered in November 1965. At the same time studies began to incorporate tactical missions to these new aircraft. Since March 1966, tests with rockets and bombs assemblies began, installing two Matra 38 underwing pylons for rocket launchers. In 1968 its military designation was changed to C.10B due to its new offensive capability, which they would demonstrate with the 462nd Squadron between 1970 and 1976, date in which they were transferred to other units when the Squadron was disbanded. During those years the HA-200D made 17,466 flight hours and numerous and effective war actions against the Polisario Front combatants over the Sahara’s Spanish territories. The HA-200D or E.14B / C.10B / A.10B were removed from service between June and July 1980 after serving with the 214th Squadron.
