BGBV-82 (Bärgningsbandvagn 82) ARV
The arrival of the Pbv-302 APC and the S-tank (Strv 103) MBT highlighted the need for the Swedish Army to have a new armored recovery vehicle (ARV) capable of following the progress of these vehicles and being able to remove them from the battlefield if were damaged, broken down or stuck in soft ground. In addition, the new vehicle should be capable of performing mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks on the battlefield if necessary. In July 1966 the Hägglunds firm received a contract for the development of a new vehicle, which was based on the Pbv-302 and which would finally be designated “Bgbv-82”.
