SMT-1

The SMT-1 mobile bridge system was developed in the mid-70s for the Polish Army. The bridge is mounted on a metal frame that is transported by a 6×6 Star 660 truck, measures about 11 meters in length and weighs only about 2,300 kg. The truck cabin has no roof, which facilitates the launching and retraction of the bridge. This operation is carried out by means of a winch with cables located in the front of the cabin. Once fixed in position, the bridge can be crossed by vehicles up to 40 tons of weight, which is something really remarkable for such a lightweight bridge.
