PBV-302 (Pansarbandvagn 302) APC

The policy of neutrality carried out by Sweden for 175 years required it to develop the military equipment necessary to maintain an efficient and independent defense policy. In the 1950s the nuclear-bacteriological threat was a matter of great concern and the Swedish military requested an armored personnel carrier based on the Strv M-41 light tank with amphibious capacity that would carry a platoon of infantry and have good cross-country mobility. This request led to the Pbv-301 APC, delivered to the Swedish Army in 1961, but by then they were already working on a new, more modern and capable model. After a relatively short development, in 1966 the Pbv-302 (Pansarbandvagn 302) entered service, a vehicle that became the main means of armored transport for the Swedish infantry for 30 years.
