MASTIFF, RIDGEBACK & WOLFHOUND PPVs

Mastiff, Ridgeback and Wolfhound MRAP vehicles are the British derivatives from the American Cougar MRAP family. In 2006 the British NP Aerospace company won a contract offered by the Ministry of Defense to modificate and improve a batch of about 700 vehicles destined to serve with the British forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program was urgent, given the worrying situation of the British troops in both countries due to the lack of adequate vehicles for the hot environment and vulnerable to the growing insurgency’s  attacks. The first vehicles were deployed in 2006 in Irak, being highly appreciated for their capacities thanks to the improvements made. Electronic countermeasures (ECM) and British communications equipment were installed and everything related to protection was reviewed and upgraded. In fact, after so many improvements and modifications, we could consider these vehicles as new designs.
