LIAONING (CV-16)

On September 25, 2012, the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy) commissioned the first aircraft carrier in its history, under the designation “Type 001 Liaoning“. The ship received number 16 and was initially intended to carry out training missions, although the ship has actually been used to learn and experience everything related to aircraft carrier operations. After a period of 4 years, in November 2016 Liaoning carrier was declared “combat ready” and since then it has an embarked wing normally made up of 24 Shenyang J-15 “Flying Shark” multirole fighters and 14-16 helicopters of different classes.
