Leichte Ladungsträger GOLIATH (Sd Kfz.303)

Due to the lack of reliability of the Goliath (Sd Kfz.302) (E-motor), electric type, a new vehicle was proposed that would carry a more conventional and reliable gasoline engine. One of the Zundapp motorcycle brand was chosen, the SZ.7 two-cylinder and 703cc. This new motorization allowed the Goliath (Sd Kfz.303) (V-Motor), a little more speed and much greater range. The “A model” appeared in April 1943, equipped with more armour to be less vulnerable to small arms fire. Later, in September 1944, an improved version or “B model” entered service. The explosive charge went up to 75kgs for the model “A” and 100 kg for the model “B”, and the undercarriage was improved to get better off-road capabilities. A special trailer was designed to transport them to the combat area and facilitate its mobility.
