Kamaz 63968 TYPHOON (Taifun) K

The 6×6 Kamaz 63968 Taifun.K, or Typhoon.K, belongs to a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP) family developed since 2009 within the scope of a program for acquisition of military vehicles by Russia until 2020. The first contract was signed in 2012 and the first vehicles were seen in the Russian Victory Day military parade in 2014. The construction of this vehicle is modular type, being able to adopt different modules for the required missions. These modules can also be installed in the 6×6 Ural Taifun MRAP model, which facilitates logistics and maintenance tasks. The Taifun.K is fully protected against impacts of 14.5mm rounds, can withstand explosions up to 8 kg of TNT, and it is even claimed that it is capable of withstand 30mm rounds in some parts of the vehicle. At the beginning of 2017 there were about 60 Taifun.K in service with the Russian Army, that deployed them in Syria to conduct reconnaissance missions and to escort convoys with Russian aid to the population, for example in Aleppo city.
