BROBV-941 (Brobandvagn 941) AVLB

The arrival of the Pbv-302 APC and the S-tank MBT led the Swedish Army to develop different vehicles to support them and along with the request for an armored recovery vehicle, which germinated in the Bgbv-82, Hägglunds was also asked for a new ” armored vehicle-launched bridge (AVLB)”. It was decided that the new vehicle should be based on the Pbv-302 APC, and as the Bgbv-82 ARV was being developed at the time, Hägglunds used the latter’s chassis as a starting point for the new AVLB. The new bridgelayer was named “Brobv-941” (Brobandvagn 941) and after delivering the prototype in December 1968, in April 1970 the Swedish Army placed a joint order for 17 Brobv-941 AVLBs and 24 Bgbv-82 ARVs.
