AEC MILITANT Mk.3

In 1969 came the AEC Militant Mk.3 6×6, a medium recovery vehicle that would replace the previous Mk.1. The idea was to replace the Scammell Pioneer and Explorer models, with too many years of service behind them, and for this task, the Mk.3 was equipped with a crane capable of loads up to 5 tons and a winch for 22 tonnes of maximum capacity. They also mounted a cabin for the 4 crewmen and larger tires. The Mk.3 had a shorter wheelbase than the transport Militant and had both outrigger jacks and a ground anchor spade for pulling tasks. The AEC Militant Mk.3 was the last military vehicle developed by the AEC company and was replaced in the 90s by the Foden GS 6×6 in the British Army.
