YELLOW SUN Mk.2 gallery

The British decided to save on costs and integration problems using the same casing of the previous Yellow Sun Mk.1, that had to be ballasted to maintain the aerodynamic and physical capabilities of the already tested Mk.1, an ingenious and useful option before the exorbitant cost of this type of weapons.
The Yellow Sun Mk.2 warhead was also used as a warhead for the British Blue Steel missile, and after several modifications, it would have been used for the canceled Anglo-American Skybolt missile. Red Snow warhead was developed when the adoption of Granite warhead, tested in the Grapple test of 1957, was rejected.
