Certainly it is difficult to understand the construction of this destroyers since they did not represent any step forward, perhaps they were political considerations to compensate certain shipyards, which were not able to build the successful Battle destroyer classes.
HMS Crossbow entered service in March 1948 and was scrapped in January 1972. In this class it was necessary to assemble two funnels, the fore being hidden between the lattice mast. As anecdotal data, they were the last ‘s destroyers Royal Navy to mount single reduction turbines.
HMS Scorpion was changed twice in name before its launch. In 1953 she participated in the Fleet Review that took place to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and remained active until 1963, when it was placed in reserve until her scrapping in 1971.
