During her service in the Peruvian Navy, the Huáscar had a “busy life” with battles against British and Chileans with different results in both cases. Their battles have long been studied by naval analysts from around the world.At the Battle of Cape Angamos on October 8, 1879, Huáscar faced the Chilean Cochrane and Blanco Encalada battleships, which defeated and captured her for the Chilean Navy.In the Battle of Cape Angamos, Huáscar‘s proved not to be very powerful ship. In that battle they did not pierce the armour of the Chilean ships nor its armour protected her from the Chilean shells.
