EC-135C gallery
At least eleven of the
EC-135C
s in service were entirely new
KC-135B
built as aerial refueling tankers conversions. In other words, none of the
KC-135B
had entered service as a tanker.
They began their essential service in 1963 and were able to send orders to the intercontinental missile bases to ensure an answer and destroy the enemies if they dared to attack first.
Twenty people make up the support of the Airborne Emergency Action Officer, responsible for making decisions in the event of a nuclear attack. In addition, the aircraft also had a crew of twelve members.
The “Looking Glass” surveillance and air control missions, have their own control center in the Offutt AFB, Nebraska. In addition, there are several support wings for aerial refueling.
