D-74 122mm gallery

Despite not being a widespread model, the 122mm D-74 field gun has taken part in almost all Wars of the 20th century. From Vietnam War, through the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, the 1973 Yom Kippur War, to the recent fighting against Daesh.
D-74  gun is mounted on the same carriage as the much more successful 152mm D-20 howitzer. This last howitzer was developed at the same time and by the same design bureau than D-74.
With a maximum range of 24 km in indirect fire, it could make direct fire up to 1 km against armored targets firing APHE (Armor Piercing High Explosive) shells. This gun has a maximum rate of fire of 10 rounds per minute by a well-trained crew.
