The Churchill Mk.II “Oke” flamethrowers were the first Churchill tanks with this arrangement and were operated by the Canadian Calgary Regiment in Dieppe with no success.The normal armament was maintained and since the flamethrower was a fixed mount, the entire tank had to be maneuvered to aim at the targets. This system was totally unsuitable and ineffective in combat.
