The M-37 is simply a smooth tube supported by a baseplate and a bipod with some elements to control the elevation and traverse of the weapon. Inside the tube there is a fixed firing pin in the breech cap and the grenades only have to be dropped to be fired.This example has a different baseplate, perhaps a modification made by the Finnish Army that captured and used it during WWII, in the so-called “Winter War” against the Soviet Red Army.The 82-BM-37 mortar has been manufactured and copied by different countries such as China that designates Type-53 82mm mortar or in Egypt, manufactured by the Helwan company and designated as M-69.
